WSL at Build 2019: Day 1 Round-Up

• WSL2 is coming with an actual Linux kernel.

  • WSL2 uses a lightweight virtualization layer to run a recent Linux kernel maintained by Microsoft.

  • WSL2 offers massive speed and application compatibility solutions, including native Docker.

  • Pengwin will be ready for WSL2 on day one.

  • WSL2 will ship in Windows Insider builds as early as June.

• Windows Terminal is the new open-source terminal for WSL, PowerShell, and Command Line. It even got it’s own promo video below featuring, among the distros, Pengwin.
